Description
A lovely woman is seated on a gray velvet, chaise lounge. She is dressed in a soft yellow, silk evening gown. Gazing out to sea, she watches the colors changing in the evening sky, while anticipating going out to dinner with friends. A beautiful bouquet of roses in a large glass bowl catches the reflected light from the setting sun, highlighting the blue of the ocean and sky.
Working with shadowed skin colors, velvet textures, and the soft petals of roses created the challenge of evaluating tonalities and measured brush strokes. Her face and hands are highlighted by the sunlight, heightened by the feeling of being present in the room, adding to an awareness of the ever expanding view.
